Wrote this when I was in Kindergarten last week. Excuse the misspelling tho.
Last week, my soon-to-be kindergarten teacher called and asked if we would like to go and visit them before the new session starts. Just to familiarize ourselves w the new kindergarten. And yesterday she called us up again and when Mommy told me, I was so excited that I wanted to go right away. Then Mommy was lamenting how she would miss me when I go to kindergarten. So, I suggested that we get another Zuleikha (how? only God knows). She said, “Mommy will be w the other Zuleikha while you are in kindergarten?” Boldly I replied, “NO, the other Zuleikha goes to kindergarten and I stay w you” Haha. I am so smart at dodging kindergarten.
Anyway, today we went to the new kindergarten. We are really impressed. I will be placed in the Räuber (robber) group. Papa would be glad because sometimes he likes to call me Räuberin or Räbertochter.
But for now, I need to finish off my learning with Mommy before kindergarten starts on Sept 16 and we need to get the items on the list for kindergarten. How exciting!
We have lots and lots of snow this winter and one of those who enjoys it is me. I made up a song one day, which Mommy and I kept chanting on the way to kindergarten. It goes sth like this,
Es schneit, es schneit,
Es ist Kindergartenszeit
It’s snowing, it’s snowing,
It’s time for kindergarten
We also made a few snowmen this winter. This is our latest tho we were not really in the mood to decorate it. I wanted to sled but the snow was so soft and thick that the sled sunk in and didn’t move at all.

We had a dragon-themed party today in kindergarten. Mommy dressed me up as a dragon, but most of my girl friends dressed up as princesses. Dragon and princess, what a match!
It hadn’t been a good week for me tho on Monday the doc said my ear was OK again. I dunno what happened but I don’t like going to kindergarten anymore. Mommy was puzzled because she thought that would never happen. On Wednesday, my teacher Astrid talked to her about me; that I cried for no a apparent reason. My tears flowed just like a dam breaking up. [Sometimes I do tell Mommy that my tears just wanna come out, as if they have mind of their own]. Astrid asked Mommy what has been happening at home. Nothing unusual tho, Mommy thinks I miss my papa. They know it’s hard, but I don’t think they know how hard it’s. I can’t really tell them too, well not in the way they would understand.
On Friday, I begged Mommy to let me stay home. Mommy said no. I told Mommy I want to go to the doc’s. She said we can’t go, if we are not sick. I cried all the way to kindergarten. When we were there, we sat a few minutes at the entryway with Mommy wiping my tears away and discussing why I can’t go home w her. I think, a few more minutes she would take me home, but Astrid came to see us and asked why. Later she took me in her arms and carried me to the class room. I was smiling in my tears saying goodbye to Mommy w my teddy Snowflake clinching in my arms.
We were playing dragon family in kindergarten, hence the green mark on my forehead.
I woke Mommy up short after 4 am this morning and told her my ear’s awa – it hurts. Told her my throat hurt too. She asked me to sleep it off and we’ll go to doc’s in the morning. I just couldn’t sleep anymore; no matter how much begging Mommy was doing. But somehow the pain lessen up a bit because I was able to doze off later. Since the doc’s office opens at 9:00 am only, we had to wait with going to doc. And we had to wait over an hour there because we didn’t have appointment. We have to wait anyway, even if we have appointment, because we are not privately insured.
While we were waiting, Mommy kept asking if I am in pain. With all the excitements in the waiting room, I didn’t even notice anymore. Later the doc said I have inflammation in my ear. Was prescribed w pain-killers and amoxicillin but she asked us to wait the amoxicillin. Should only take it if the pain persists in the next few days. Lets hope I don’t have to. We were asked to come on Monday for a follow-up check-up.
BTW: Mommy saw a sign yesterday in the kindergarden tht says “We have Scarlet fever in Fish group”. She just thought, oh oh.

Round about this time last year, I was suspected to contract scarlet fever. It was the case when Mommy came and picked me up on Monday. I had red cheeks and tummy but the redness was gone when my kindergarten teacher Astrid wanted to show her. I didn’t have any other symptoms like strawberry tongue, fever, strep throat or abdominal pains. At least I didn’t complain any of it. Back at home Mommy took my temperature again. Normal. Right before going to bed I had blazing red cheeks again which subdued later.
She decided not to take any chance, so she made appointment in the afternoon w the doc – we couldn’t in the morning coz she was waiting for sth. And still we had to wait till the next morning to know the result of the swab the doc took from my mouth.
It was positive. I had to take penicillin and be quarantined, so no kindergarten for the rest of the week. I already complained how much I miss my friends. She said I shouldn’t go to kindergarten coz I would make them also ill.
So, I just stayed home and helped Mommy w house chores or made her play w me.

We had a date w Papa’s cousin who came down from Switzerland. Spent half a day w her and we went to the Munich x-mas market.

I was complaining about sore throat the whole weekend and got high temperature, so Mommy decided to take me to the doc again. The doc made another test and she said I had scarlet fever again. Poor me. So, same procedure again – penicillin and no kindergarten.
16th December 2008
Went to the doc again for the follow-up check-up. Got clean bill of health.

Mommy noticed red papules on my body and she thought it was a sign of chickenpox. Went to the doc again and her fear was confirmed. So, I am quarantined again and we had to cancel the birthday party I was so looking forward to. My parents said I could invite my friends again when I am better in January; a sorta belated birthday party.
And now we are hoping I will be well enuf so we can go for the annual visit to Tante Geno in Köln, tho she already said it doesn’t matter if I am still ill, we are still welcomed there. How very nice of her. 🙂
We had lantern fair this evening at my kindergarten. We have been practicing the “Laterne” song since a while. And other songs as well of course.
Is this how we carry the lantern?
Of course it’s more like this. On the way to kindergarten.
Discussing lantern matter w my friend Verana.
Waiting for the lantern walk w my group-mates. We are the bear group, thus, our lanterns are in the shape of a bear.
And it has begun 🙂 Do you see the green light there?
It was mine. I was so proud of it, tho my friend Amelie has a lovely stick with heart-shaped light.
Walk back in the garden
Waiting for the goose-shaped cookie.
We can share Mommy. You can have my goose. Don’t really like it.

This week is the first week of another year in kindergarten. Was told that I may go in the morning session like the other kids. Mommy reminded me often before the actual week, how we need to get up early, eat my breakfast duly and get ready on time. She was a little bit apprehensive about not making it on time. In the very first morning, it was kinda hard to wake up. Papa had to sing something like “Wake up sleepy head, it’s morning now. You must milk the cow”. But all in all we were even early. 🙂
But the hardest part was when Mommy came to pick me up at noon. I didn’t want to go home. Who would, if all their friends were having fun in the garden right? I screamed and cried but Mommy was adamant. The second and third day were the same. Cried the whole way home. Mommy just wanted to sink in the ground. By the time it was Friday, I was a bit OK about going home, tho it took forever to say goodbyes.
On the whole, It was a fun week. I told my parents of the new teacher and kids. Showed Mommy whoiswho, so when I relate my day in kindergarten she has an idea whom I am talking about; either Angelina, Michelle, Redon or teacher Amelie. She is greatful for that, I think 🙂 And the fact that I am still loving and enjoying kindergarten.
P.S: Mommy is so sorry for not posting this entry sooner.

They held a summer party in the Kindergarten today. We gave a mini concert to the guests. Was fun turning and jumping like a dancing kangaroo.
Faces of cat.
Mommy did this because she was sorry that she overslept and we missed the costume party in kindergarten
Astrid my kindergarten teacher did this, as well as the spider on the back of my palm.
